A woman was killed Friday night after a three-vehicle accident on Route 88 in Union Township, Washington County Coroner Tim Warco reported.

Stacy R. Smith, 47, of Eighty Four, was operating one of the vehicles involved in the wreck, which occurred about 9:40 p.m. on Route 88, just north of Airport Road. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:33 p.m.

An unidentified passenger in Smith’s vehicle was flown by helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. No information was available on that person’s condition. One of the other drivers was taken to Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, Southwest Regional police Chief John Hartman said. No information on that driver’s condition was available.

The cause and manner of death are pending autopsy and investigation. Southwest Regional Police Department is investigating.

Assisting at the scene were Finleyville and Elrama fire departments, Jefferson Hills Ambulance Service and state police.
