WAYNESBURG – RJ Tonks and Shelby Tabrosky were crowned Waynesburg University homecoming king and queen Saturday at a ceremony during halftime of the homecoming football game.

Tonks, a senior sports management major, is the son of Ron Tonks and Jani Rybacki, of Greensburg.

He is a member of the Waynesburg University business club and his community service includes volunteering at Open Arms and 2nd SAM 9 Inc., a local nonprofit that provides vocational training for adults with intellectual developmental disabilities.

As a student at Waynesburg, Tonks has been involved in intense therapy to improve his mobility. He has hopes of walking unassisted at graduation in May of 2015. Tonks hopes to work for a professional sports team in the future and eventually own his own athletic complex.

Tabrosky, a senior communication major, is the daughter of Roy and Kim Tabrosky of Glenshaw.

She is the leader of the Upper Room team at Waynesburg University and served at a variety of service sites during her four years at Waynesburg. Tabrosky, who plays on the Waynesburg University softball team, is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She served as broadcaster and producer of WCYJ-FM and WCTV for four years. Tabrosky is a member of the honors academy and Lambda Pi Eta.

Her career goal is to become a play-by-play announcer.
