Administrators of the Washington County Correctional Facility are investigating an altercation that sent two male inmates to the hospital Monday night.

Jail Warden John Temas said the incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Monday. One of the men was immediately sent to Washington Hospital for treatment and returned to the jail around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. The second man was taken to the hospital around midnight and returned to the jail around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Temas said he could not elaborate on the extent of their injuries. He said the jail is investigating the incident.

“If we believe a crime has occurred, we will turn it over to Washington city police for further investigation, and arrests will made,” Temas said.
