WAYNESBURG – The Greene County district attorney’s office recommended a Waynesburg man be sentenced to 2 ½ to 5 years in the state intermediate punishment program Wednesday following his guilty plea to his fourth driving under the influence charge since 2006.

Judge Farley Toothman accepted the recommendation, and told William David Grim, 30, of 78 N. Maiden St., “You have a pathological drinking problem that can kill you.” It will be up to the state Department of Corrections to determine whether Grim will be accepted into the program.

Grim pleaded guilty to DUI, DUI incapable of safe driving, habitual offender, blood-alcohol level of .02 percent or greater second offense and six summary traffic violations for his arrest on March 4 in Cumberland Township when he was stopped after crossing the yellow line five times. His blood-alcohol content was 0.184 percent. At the time, he was already serving a five-year sentence of county intermediate punishment for a 2010 DUI where he had a BAC of 0.168 percent.

Grim previously served sentences on guilty pleas to a 2006 DUI in Washington County and a 2007 DUI in Greene County.
