Two sentenced in Greene on unrelated charges

WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man was sentenced Wednesday to one year of probation after pleading guilty to possessing a controlled substance.

Stephen Freedman, 72, of 68 W. Lincoln St., was arrested on Nov. 6 when Waynesburg Borough Police served a warrant and found five stamp bags of heroin and $647 in cash in his shirt pocket. Freedman was ordered to forfeit the money.

In another case, Troy A. Martin, 43, of 125 Rohanna Court, Waynesburg, was admitted into the Accelerateed Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol Feb. 9.

Martin was stopped for driving with an out-of-date registration. Martin’s blood-alcohol was 0.195 percent. He was ordered to perform 90 hours of community service aned his license will be suspended for 60 days.
