MEXICO CITY (AP) — An American man has died after being kicked, bit and sat on by a camel at a private wildlife park in the Mexican resort of Tulum.

Mexican officials have identified the man as Richard Mileski, 70, of Chicago, Illinois, and said he owned the Tulum Monkey Sanctuary.

Mexico’s office of environmental protection said late Tuesday that 25 animals, including the camel, monkeys, deer and other animals, were placed under seizure orders, but were being kept at the sanctuary pending investigation.

Tulum Civil Defense official Alberto Canto said rescue workers had to use a rope tied to a pickup truck to pull the camel off the man’s body. A sanctuary employee confirmed the identity, age and circumstances of Mileski’s death on Monday.
