A West Alexander man was arraigned Thursday on charges including attempted rape stemming from an incident that allegedly happened 27 years ago with a 6-year-old girl.

The woman in the case, who is now 33, contacted Trooper Sarah Teagarden after reading about the 2012 arrest of Brian Christopher Hall, 42, of 125 Main St., for sending inappropriate text messages to a 14-year-old girl during the summer of 2011. Hall, who was charged by state police with corruption of minors in that case, had his record expunged after he successfully completed the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program.

Teagarden said the woman contacted her in 2012 and told police that she went to his home in September 1987 so that his parents could babysit her.

She told Teagarden she was sleeping on the floor of Hall’s room. Hall was 15 at the time, Teagarden said. When she awoke, Hall was allegedly touching her inappropriately and had reached under her nightgown.

She went to the bathroom and Hall’s mother asked her what was wrong, but she did not answer. She then returned to the bedroom and went back to sleep. She told her mother what happened and Hall was reportedly made to apologize to the victim.

Hall was interviewed by Teagarden. He reportedly admitted to touching the girl.

Hall was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of attempted rape and indecent assault. He was released on $100,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 28 before Ward.
