Firefighters from several departments were called about 3:30 a.m. Friday when a vacant house caught fire at 211 McClure Road in Burgettstown.

A Burgettstown firefighter said the house was engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene. The family who had lived in the house had recently moved out. Firefighters focused their efforts on keeping the fire from spreading to other homes near the burning building, spraying water on the sides of the adjacent residences. No other homes were damaged.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. No injuries were reported. Assisting Burgettstown firefighters were firefighters from Hanover and Jefferson townships, Slovan and McDonald.
