Interviews by the Associated Press with voters across Pennsylvania show that many know little about Democratic gubernatorial nominee Tom Wolf but are backing the first-time candidate because of their disenchantment with Republican Gov. Tom Corbett.

The AP recently conducted about 30 random interviews in suburban Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Johnstown and Altoona to find out which candidate voters support and why.

Wolf supporters in both parties cited his likeability and business experience rather than his proposals, such as overhauling the income tax and imposing a new tax on natural gas extraction. They criticized Corbett as an enemy of public education and his refusal to tax gas drillers.

Republicans backing Corbett defended his fiscal conservatism. They said he took unfair lumps for his stance on schools and held the line on major taxes.
