McDonald police have obtained an arrest warrant for a Midway man accused of assaulting his stepsons during a confrontation at their home Saturday night.
Troy Allen Phillips, 37, of 504 North Ave., is wanted on charges of endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and harassment.
Police were called about 11:30 p.m. to the apartment shared by Phillips, his wife, Mary, her 18-year-son Kenzey Allen Hart and her 17-year-old son.
Troy Phillips reportedly came home highly intoxicated and got into an argument with his wife over her sons. During the argument, Phillips reportedly referred to the sons by using derogatory names.
Hart and his brother left their bedroom to check on their mother. Phillips reportedly attacked the two, police said.
Hart and his brother told police that they punched Phillips in self-defense. Phillips also reportedly took off his shirt and wanted to continue to fight.
Mary Phillips and her sons left the apartment. Her husband followed them and pushed the 17-year-old as he approached a set of stairs. He did not fall, but pushed his stepfather to get away from him.
The two brothers went back into their apartment, but their stepfather forced his way back inside and again assaulted Hart and the 17-year-old, police said.
Police said the 17-year-old sustained minor injuries to his wrist and fingers while Hart injured his shoulder and had a bruise near his left eye.
Another resident of the apartment building will be charged with disorderly conduct after police found him with drug paraphernalia while answering the disturbance call.
Police went the apartment of Richard Lee Stankowski, 40, about 1 a.m. Sunday to see if the residents could provide any information about the confrontation at the other apartment.
When Stankowski and his girlfriend opened the door, police could smell marijuana. Both admitted to smoking marijuana before going to a midget football game on Saturday.
Police found paraphernalia, including an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin.
The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
