Michigan trucker jailed in sex assault
A Michigan trucker remains in Washington County jail on $250,000 bond after state police in Belle Vernon said he sexually assaulted and used a metal pipe to strike an Ohio woman in the parking lot of Bentleyville Pilot Truck Stop between 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Kevin James Young, 46, of 8163 Topinabee Drive, Montgomery, is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault, sexual assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge James Ellis. His preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 29 in Central Court.
Police said Young, an over-the-road truck driver, met the woman at a fast-food restaurant in Toledo, Ohio, Sunday and the two left together to ride in his tractor-trailer this week. The affidavit filed in Ellis’ office alleges Young drove the woman, whose age was not listed, to her house in Toledo, where she retrieved some personal items, then they went to Young’s Michigan house.
Afterward, the two went to his place of employment in Michigan, where she said he sexually assaulted her and punched her in the face. The two then rode to Erie, where again, police said, Young sexually assaulted her at a truck stop along Interstate 80 and struck her legs with a metal pipe.
After the two traveled to the truck stop in Bentleyville the woman said he forced himself on her again while the truck was parked in the lot, police said.
As Young slept and took a shower at the truck stop, police said the woman was able to get his cellphone and to send messages to her former boyfriend, who notified state police.
The woman told police Young threatened to kill her if she did not say she was his girlfriend. She was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment.
Young, police said, denied having sex with the woman, police said.
