Baking classes for kids offered

WAYNESBURG – Greene County Department of Recreation will offer a baking class geared specifically for children with the first installment of “Kidz and Kupcakz” in November.
The class will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19, on the lower level of the 4-H Building at Greene County Fairgrounds. The cost to attend is $30, and the early registration deadline is Nov. 14. Class size is limited.
Instructor Yvonne Lee of Carmichaels will lead the class, which combines her passions: cake baking and decorating and working with children. A noted local baker, Lee instructed several baking classes for the department of recreation and serves as the children’s ministry director at Suncrest United Methodist Church in Morgantown, W.Va.
“Kidz and Kupcakz” is designed for children ages 5 to 11. Children 5 and under wishing to participate must have an adult present. The class will present a fun approach to basic cake decorating skills and will include games and contests. Each child will receive a chef’s hat and cupcakes to take home. Children should bring a container for their cupcakes and should dress for getting messy.
