CARMICHAELS – The varsity and junior high school cheerleading squads from Carmichaels Area School District will conclude their annual Pink Out Friday with a public pink out at tonight’s football game against Jefferson-Morgan.

Game time is 7 p.m. with senior night festivities preceding the game at 6:20 p.m. Those attending are asked to support the cheerleaders’ efforts by wearing pink.

Students who purchased Pink Out T-shirts, sold as a fundraiser for the district’s Relay for Life team, formed a pink ribbon on the football field Thursday as part of a Pink Out pep rally.

During September, the cheerleaders sold Pink Out shirts for $10 with $5 paying for the cost of printing the shirts and $5 going to the district’s Relay for Life team. To date, the high school raised $3,600 for the Relay for Life via the Pink Out campaign.

The fundraising effort is co-organized each year by the cheerleading squads, the Carmichaels cheerleading booster organization and cheer coaches Erin Fitzsimmons and Lisa Robinson.

This year, the cheerleaders rallied the football team, band, volleyball team and golf team to help support their efforts. These other organizations helped to kickoff the campaign by promoting it on Spirit Day, Sept. 12. These athletes and musicians wore the shirts during a presale Spirit Day and the cheerleaders went door-to-door helping promote sales of the shirts and raise awareness of the American Cancer Society’s work.
