Elected officials in Brownsville and West Brownsville will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sunday to mark the 100th birthday of the Inter-County Bridge over the Monongahela River.

The rededication will take place at 1 p.m. on Race Street in Brownsville, Fayette County, said the secretary of West Brownsville, which is in Washington County.

Refreshments will then be served until 3 p.m. at the Brownsville Sons of Italy Club at 16 Race St.

The steel truss bridge replaced a wooden span built in 1831 along what was once the National Road.
