Numerous people recently appeared in Washington County Court on criminal charges. Appearing before Judge Valarie Costanzo were:
James J. Sullivan, 51, 304 Washington St., Bentleyville; first offense of driving under the influence; charged Oct. 25, 2013; sentence – 48 hours to 6 months in jail, $1,000 fine and 1-year license suspension.
William A. Berdine, 35, 455 Ewing St., Washington; driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia; charged May 22; sentence – 60 days of electronic home monitoring, 12 months of probation and $500 fine.
Joshua L. Novotny, 29, 424 S. Market St., Carmichaels; fleeing an officer and obedience to traffic control device; charged May 25; sentence – 6 months of Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program.
Timothy E. Richardson, 29, 1102 Sharps Circle, Bridgeville; possession of marijuana; charged July 20; sentence – 30 days of probation.
Trey D. Adams, 26, 737 N. Main St., Houston; fleeing an officer and driving with a suspended license; charged July 3; sentence – 12 months of probation and $200 fine.
Lauren A. Kotz, 24, 189 Seal Road, Eighty Four; two counts of possession with intent to deliver; charged April 11, 2013; sentence – 6 to 23 months in jail with credit for time in rehabilitation and 3 months of electronic home monitoring.
Danielle A. Megela, 25, Valley Grove, W.Va.; first offense of driving under the influence and operating a vehicle without insurance; charged Nov. 14; sentence – 72 hours to 6 months in jail, 12 months of probation, 1-year license suspension and $1,000 fine.
Laura L. Smider, 27, 297 Castle Road, Washington; driving without a license and first offense of driving under the influence; charged Jan. 13; sentence – 72 hours to 6 months in jail, 1-year license suspension and $200 fine.
Cameron A. Martin, 21, 113 Maple Ave., Washington; simple assault, first offense of driving under the influence and driving with a suspected license-DUI related; charged June 26; sentence – 6 to 20 months in jail, 1-year license suspension and $1,500 fine.

Cheryl A. Zalek, 47, 1009 W. Third St., Grindstone; false identification to law enforcement and driving with a suspended license; charged Feb. 2; sentence – 12 months of probation and $200 fine.
Rory T. Bistarkey, 28, 3701 Millers Run Road, McDonald; possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license; charged March 15; sentence – 12 months of probation and $200 fine.
Ashley N. Kronemer, 22, 312 Chestnut St., Monessen; possession with intent to deliver; charged Aug. 28, 2013; sentence – 23 months in the Intermediate Punishment program with first 6 months on electronic home monitoring, 150 hours of community service, contraband destroyed and funds forfeited.
Anthony F. Schindler, 53, 413 Main St., New Eagle; three counts of possession with intent to deliver; charged March 10; sentence – 23 months in the Intermediate Punishment programs with first 6 months on electronic home monitoring and 50 hours of community service.
Joseph W. Baumgartner IV, 21, 2362 Wharrey Drive, Sewickley; possession of drug paraphernalia and second offense of driving under the influence; charged Feb. 27; sentence – 4 months in jail with credit for inpatient treatment, 23 months in the Intermediate Punishment program, 12 months of probation, 18-month license suspension and $1,500 fine.
Jay Tokar, 52, 632 Henry St., Belle Vernon; first offense of driving under the influence; charged Dec. 7; sentence – 6 days to 6 months of electronic home monitoring, 12-month license suspension and $1,000 fine.
Virginia G. Smith, 33, 155 E. Sunset Drive, Washington; possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense of driving under the influence and driving with suspended license; charged Jan. 30; sentence – 3 days to 6 months in jail with credit for time served, 12 months of probation, 12-month license suspension and $1,200 fine.
Numerous people recently appeared in Washington County Court for first offenses of driving under the influence and were admitted to the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program. If they successfully complete the program, they can petition the court to have their records expunged. Admitted were:
