Man missing for week found dead in vehicle crash

APOLLO (AP) – Investigators said a 41-year-old Western Pennsylvania man died in a one-car crash on a rural road six days after he was last seen by his friends and family.
The Westmoreland County coroner’s office said Albert Shaner III of Southwest Greensburg was last seen Oct. 17.
He was pronounced dead at the scene about 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Bell Township. That’s about 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Authorties aren’t sure when Shaner crashed. They said a jogger saw the wreckage off Route 981. Shaner apparently lost control of the car going around a curve and went over a steep embankment.
The cause and manner of Shaner’s death isn’t clear. Toxicology tests will take several weeks to complete.
Until then, the coroner isn’t ruling on the cause or manner of Shaner’s death.
