Thanksgiving is less than five weeks away, and the 2000 Turkeys campaign is in full swing.

So far, thanks to Washington County businesses, organizations and individuals, the campaign raised $21,252 to help local unemployed and underemployed families enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner.

Each $15 raised provides a turkey and fixings for a family of four.

The 2000 Turkeys goal is to raise $100,000 to lend a hand to the more than 5,400 families in the county who are worried about putting a holiday dinner on the table. There’s work to be done.

Please consider sending in a donation, or contribute by purchasing a turkey placard at Duritza’s Shop ‘n Save stores in Canonsburg and Washington, or place a donation in one of the 2000 Turkeys jars set out at local businesses.
