WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg woman found bleeding at the Pejcak Sunoco, 10 E. Greene St. Aug. 9., was charged with aggravated assault when she struggled with police and spit in the face of a Waynesburg Borough police officer.

Jaime Beth Haywood, 35, of 49 West Locust Alley, also was charged with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and public drunkenness, but it was not explained why the charges were not filed until Oct. 23.

Police said Haywood had blood on her face and was standing at the checkout counter yelling. Officer Nicholas Rennie said Haywood refused to identify herself or explain how she injured her head. Rennie said Haywood became combative and was finally handcuffed by Officer Bill Nichols.

Haywood was then taken outside the service station where she continued shouting and spit on Rennie’s pants, according to a criminal complaint. She continued to struggle with police, spit in Nichol’s face and attempted to bite his arm. Police then transported her to Southwest Regional Medical Center.

Police said Haywood remained combative at the hospital and when she was transported to Greene County jail, she allegedly began to smack her head against the rear window of the police car.

Jail records do not show her being processed and there is no information relative to bond.
