Robbery: The Sunoco gas station at 800 Main Street, Bentleyville, was robbed Wednesday. State police said a man wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and a dark scarf over the bottom half of his face entered the store, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. The suspect then escaped with an undetermined amount of cash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Belle Vernon barracks at 724-929-6262.
Fire: A mattress and utility pole caught fire about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday in front of 249 E. College Street, Canonsburg. Canonsburg police said the fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
Check stolen, forged: Mail was reported missing from the business mailbox of Vincent’s of Greentree restaurant, 673 Morganza Road, and included in the mail was a check for $245.23, township police said. Owner Adam Abbato reported the theft at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday. Abbato told police the amount was changed to $2,245, and the check was forged and cashed.
Theft: A tent was reported missing from 6 Mannina Ave., Dunlevy. State police said the theft occurred between Oct. 20 and Oct. 22. The tent was valued at $200.
Charged after stop: Chad M. Davis, 34, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, was charged with speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia after McDonald police said they found pills and other drug-related items during a traffic stop Wednesday. Davis was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and released on his own recognizance.
Thefts from vehicles: A resident of the 100 block of Carol Drive reported at 6:11 a.m. Thursday that vehicles parked outside were entered, township police said. Stolen from one unlocked vehicle were a wallet with two credit cards and $40, and $55 was stolen from another vehicle, police said.
Driving-while-suspended charge: Daniel E. Campanelli, 55, of 145 Highland Ave., Avella, was cited for driving while his license and registration were suspended after a traffic stop Wednesday along Route 19, South Strabane Township police said.
Retail theft charge: Kaitlyn M. Schoen, 22, of Pittsburgh, was charged with retail theft after she allegedly stole $182 worth of items Wednesday from Kohl’s, 353 Washington Road, South Strabane Township police said. Schoen was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and was placed in Washington County jail on $2,500 bond.
Assault alleged: Melvin C. Ringer Jr., 32, of 173 Jollick Manor, Washington, was charged with simple assault after he allegedly punched his wife, Amanda Ringer, in the face several times Thursday, Washington police said. Ringer was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and released on his own recognizance.
Drug charges: Joseph Earl Gorby, 26, of 619 Best Ave., Washington, and Crystal R. Montano, 32, of 226 Charles St., Washington, face drug charges for allegedly having a needle, pipe and three stamp bags of heroin in their possession during a traffic stop Sept. 3 at Canton Avenue and Ewing Street. Gorby, the driver, also faces charges for driving with an altered license plate and without lights on the passenger side of his vehicle. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Theft: Jennifer Shrieve of Pittsburgh reported to city police several checks was cashed without her knowledge between March 2011 and October 2014. She said about $10,000 was stolen from her account through false checks, income tax checks and ATM transactions. Police identified a suspect, but said further investigation is needed.
