ROGERSVILLE – During October, the West Greene Quarterbacks of Life student leaders organized a local sock drive inspired by the “Socktober” campaign started by Internet sensation Kid President and Soul Pancake to help the nation’s homeless population.

Throughout Socktober, students were asked to bring in donations of new, clean socks and other items to be donated to area homeless shelters in preparation for the winter season. In addition to the sock drive, the Quarterbacks of Life student leaders orchestrated a crazy sock sale, for which the students sold socks they tie-dyed in order to raise awareness of the Socktober campaign and homelessness.

As a result, more than 2,300 pairs of socks have been donated during the drive. At the end of the Socktober drive, the socks will be donated to the Washington City Mission and its affiliates, which serve the homeless population of Greene and Washington counties.
