Local man held on aggravated assault charge
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man is being held in Greene County jail on $15,000 straight cash bond for allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face Sept. 1, causing a blowout fracture to her left orbital socket.
Anthony Max Dodson, 28, of 445 East Oakview Road, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment for injuries inflicted upon Melissa Kathleen Wells, 24, of Sidney, Ohio, who was living at Dodson’s address, according to a criminal complaint.
State troopers spoke to Wells at Southwest Regional Medical Center, where she was initially taken after the incident. She was later transferred to a Pittsburgh hospital.
Police said Wells said she and her 4-year old daughter were sleeping when Dodson walked into the room and punched her in the face. Trooper John Simko said Wells had swelling and bruising around her left eye and upper left cheek.
After speaking with Wells, Simko and Trooper Robert Dittrich spoke with Dodson at his home. Dodson was arrested after he allegedly told Simko he and Wells had a verbal argument that ended in him striking her in the face.
Dodson faces a preliminary hearing at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 8 before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates.
