WAYNESBURG – The Greene County Drug Task Force made an arrest following a four-month investigation into an alleged cocaine trafficker from Waynesburg.

Narcotics Detective Donald Cross said Mark Diamond, 46, of 146 West Franklin St., Apt. 2, was “a source of cocaine for a lot of years in Greene County.”

Cross and his team focused on Diamond with assistance from a confidential informant who helped make alleged controlled purchases of cocaine from Diamond outside two bars in Greene County – DAV club on Smith Creek Road and Jefferson Hotel on Jefferson Road.

The investigation began in early May and concluded in late June with Diamond allegedly selling eight baggies of cocaine to the informant during this time period.

Diamond was charged with eight counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, criminal use of a communications facility and four counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Additional charges will be filed against Diamond after police found three grams of cocaine and $845 cash on his person at the time of his arrest.

“His vehicle and the cash will be seized,” Cross said, noting arrests of other individuals associated with Diamond are pending.

He is being held in Greene County jail on $25,000 straight cash bond.

A preliminary hearing for Diamond will be held before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates Sept. 8 at 2 p.m.
