WAYNESBURG – The following tentative work plan for the week of Sept. 5, was released by Jerome Simkovic, Greene County maintenance manager for the state Department of Transportation.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights.

Culvert pipe reconstruction will be conducted on Route 1021, Crucible Road in Cumberland Township.

Major slide repair and ditch cleaning activities are scheduled for Route 2003, Big Shannon Run Road, and on Route 3010 in Deep Valley.

Bridge cleaning will be conducted on various routes in Jackson, Gilmore and Springhill townships.

Shoulder cutting and grading activities are scheduled for Route 218 from Waynesburg to the West Virginia line and on Route 188 from Waynesburg to Jefferson. Shoulder erosion repairs will begin on Route 18 in Richhill and Center townships.

Base repairs are scheduled for Route 3018 in Richhill and Aleppo townships and for Route 18 in Franklin, Washington and Morris townships.

Pipe replacement activities are to begin on Route 18, Beulah Ridge Road.

Pot hole patching will continue on Route 21 from Junction Deli to Waynesburg, Route 19, High and Greene Streets in Waynesburg, and Route 1021 in the Carmichaels area.

State roads will be inspected and signs will be updated, downed signs replaced and concerns addressed on various state roads throughout the county.

The State Correctional Institution of Greene will conduct roadside litter pick up operations on Route 188 from Waynesburg to Dry Tavern and on Route 88 from Dry Tavern to the Washington County line. Please drive carefully when encountering this moving operation.

PennDOT has a 24-hour toll free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concerns. This number can also be used to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1-800-FIX-ROAD or 1-800-349-7623.
