Southwest Regional Medical Center changes logo
WAYNESBURG – Southwest Regional Medical Center adapted its logo and adopted a new tagline to signify its continued commitment to serving the medical needs of the community. While the logo maintains the same look, the blue was converted to green, creating a new, fresh look that is visually representative of the hospital’s revised tagline, “Committed to Greene.”
“This is a change that’s accompanied by much excitement,” said Cindy Cowie, chief executive officer. “SRMC is fully committed to the patients, employees, medical personnel and industry partners of Greene County and surrounding communities. It’s exciting for our logo to now visually embrace our commitment.”
The debut of the new SRMC logo coincides with a media campaign that highlights the hospital’s symbiotic relationship with the community.
“The new campaign, ‘It’s Our SRMC’ highlights the community’s reliance upon the hospital and the impact the hospital has, each and every day, right here at home,” said Joy Eggleston, senior public affairs officer. “It’s a perfect reaffirmation of our commitment to our community, and our community’s commitment to the hospital.”
Most recently, SRMC’s commitment was exemplified in the many changes that have taken place within the hospital, over the past year, in response to the Affordable Care Act.
“The new logo is symbolic of SRMC embracing this new chapter,” Cowie said. “Following the redesign, we have continued to improve quality of care, patient satisfaction and our financial standing.”
Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, SRMC joined hospitals across the nation who have been redefining their role in the community as many services continue to shift to an outpatient level of care.
Late last year, SRMC responded by converting all patient rooms to single rooms. The rooms were each renovated, complete with new Isogel air support mattresses, WiFi, fresh paint and new flooring. The new, improved rooms now offer patients greater privacy when talking to their doctor or family, and induce a more restful environment. This change required the facility to reduce the number of beds available, which complemented the national trend, shifting many patients to an outpatient level of care.
The emergency department also received enhancements with updated treatment and nursing areas and the addition of its innovative SRMCFastER.com program. This smart phone ‘app’ continues to provide up-to-the-minute wait times, accessible online or via cell phone. The facilities’ door-to-door wait times continue to average just 2 hours, which is significantly less than the national average.
Lastly, the recent renovations have also opened up an area on the fifth floor to promote an enhanced surgical experience. Patients and their families are now afforded more solitude with private family recovery suites.
Once a patient is taken to surgery, the family is placed in their own private room where they are afforded the convenience and comfort of watching television and waiting for their loved one to return from surgery. Once surgery is over and the patient is finished in the recovery room, the patient is brought to this same room where the physician can meet with the patient and family to discuss the procedure and answer questions.
The changes have afforded great strides in patient satisfaction as well. Since March, the number of patients rating their overall hospital experience as a 9 or 10 out of a possible 10 points has increased from 52 percent to 93 percent, based on June 2014 scores. The hospital has also greatly improved its financial standing to a near break even position.
“We have experienced many changes during the past year,” said Eggleston, “The new logo design is intended to convey that while things do change, we are firmly committed to Greene County and surround communities. We thank the community for its support and look forward to many more years of service.”
The new logo will be phased in over the course of the next year. To learn more about Southwest Regional Medical Center visit www.southwestregionalmedical.com
