CARMICHAELS – The annual 9/11 remembrance will be held Thursday in the town square of Carmichaels.

The program for the ceremony will begin with sirens sounding at 8:46 a.m. and again at 9:03 a.m. to signify the planes crashing into the north and then the south towers of the World Trade Center in New York.

The siren will sound a third and fourth time at 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m., the times American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon and United Flight 93 went down in Shanksville.

The master of ceremonies for the 2014 remembrance will be Bill Ross, commander of Carmichaels American Legion Post 400. Speaker for the event will be Kit Watson, Pennsylvania American Legion Department Adjutant.

A special musical selection will be presented by soloist John Lawrenzi, the lead singer of the Steel City Quartet from Sutersville.

All are welcome to attend. The square will close at 8:30 a.m. and reopen at the conclusion of the program.
