Patrol: Escaped Ohio school shooter had pitchfork
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — State troopers say the convicted Ohio school shooter who briefly escaped from prison last week had a pitchfork when he was captured.
State Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Craig Cvetan (suh-VEHT’-ehn) said Monday that T.J. Lane didn’t threaten officers with the pitchfork and investigators haven’t determined where Lane got the tool.
Also Monday, a state lawmaker said the prison where Thursday’s escape occurred added extra razor wire to its fencing afterward.
State Rep. Matt Huffman, a Lima (LY’-muh) Republican who participated in a conference call with the state after the breakout, says he understood Allen Correctional Institution took the extra precaution in the area of the escape almost immediately.
Prisons spokeswoman JoEllen Smith confirms that additional security measures were put in place, but she declined to provide details.
