Burglary, theft charges: David Scott Hewitt, 43, of Monessen, will be charged by California police with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass stemming from an Aug. 21 incident at 244 Temperance Ave. He was working for the resident and allegedly was stealing items from the house over a period of time, police said. He is accused of stealing tools and building supplies valued at $3,100. The charges will be filed at the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Tires sliced: The owners of four vehicles parked in the 100 block of East College Street told Canonsburg police that their rear passenger tires were cut. A resident of Brown Alley also reported a tire cut Saturday. A Canonsburg woman told police she had a tire cut while her vehicle was parked at Dollar General, 145 Adams Ave., Sunday.
Harassment charge: Anthony L. Yarbrough, 56, of 527 Chartiers Ave., Canonsburg, will be charged by Canonsburg police with harassment for allegedly pushing his niece, Johnese Yarbrough, 21, of Pittsburgh, and grabbing her by the throat during an incident Sunday outside his home. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
One injured: Lindsay B. Hale, 36, of 28 Archer St., Canonsburg, was injured when her vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Conner L. Beresh, 16, of 965 S. Main St., Washington, as he turned from Ash Alley onto Second Street Saturday night, Canonsburg police said. Hale was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Medication stolen: Linda Lee Snatchko of 502 Giffin Ave. told Canonsburg police Friday prescription medication was stolen from her purse.
Gift cards stolen: David Taczak of 120 Painters Lane, Independence, told McDonald police Dick’s gift cards valued at $540 were stolen from the glovebox of his vehicle last month.
iPad stolen: Ashley Cumer of 125 S. McDonald St. told McDonald police Friday that her Apple iPad was stolen from her apartment. An application to locate the device indicated it was near the 300 block of Roosevelt Street in the borough. Police are investigating.
Scam reported: Jeremy Washington of 107 Fannie St. told McDonald police Friday he was bilked out of more than $900 as part of a scam. Washington told police he applied for a loan after receiving an email. After making application about a week ago, he received a call Thursday indicating he had been approved but would have to first send two payments totaling $400. He was directed to purchase Green Dot cards and provide the numbers to the caller. He also was directed to provide $161 to open an account with Western Union. He then was asked for an additional $356. When he checked later with Western Union about the account, the company had no information on file for him.
Disorderly charge: Dennis W. Leech, 55, of Finleyville, and Charlene E. Maroldo, 23, of New Eagle, will be charged by state police with disorderly conduct after they allegedly threw a bottle at each other during a confrontation early Sunday at Danny’s Roadhouse, Route 136, Nottingham.
Drug charges: Charles W. Moehring, 25, of 758 Route 519, Eighty Four, will be charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police said they found him in his vehicle in the parking lot of 4043 Washington Road at 10:49 p.m. Sunday. An officer was conducting a building check in the McDowell Shoppes and noticed a car with its lights on and the engine running with Moehring inside. Found inside the vehicle was a small amount of marijuana in the console and a small glass smoking pipe on the floor, police said. The charges will be sent by summons.
Quick-change scam: A man was able to scam an employee of GetGo, 2840 Washington Road, out of $20 when he told the employee he did not receive the correct change from a $50 bill for a $6 purchase of lottery tickets at 11:35 p.m. Friday, township police said. The man was driving a white sport utility vehicle.
Fleeing, license charges: Ryan M. Kelley, 30, of Finleyville, was charged Monday by Southwest Regional police with fleeing or attempting to elude police, operating an all-terrain vehicle on the street and driving without a license stemming from an incident Sept. 3 on Airport Road near Rankintown Road, Union. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge James Ellis.
Threats charge: Corey Andrew Whitlock, 23, of 189 E. Katherine Ave., Washington, was arrested Friday by Washington police on a charge of terroristic threats after he allegedly threatened to shoot his girlfriend, Natasha Wetrzykowski, during a confrontation at his home. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on a $5,000 percentage bond.
Theft, trespass charges: Michael D. Smith, 49, of 362 E. Maiden St., Washington, was arrested early Saturday by Washington police after he was spotted with a duffle bag near a warehouse at 100 Detroit Ave. When he saw police, he allegedly ran into the building and back outside, then was caught after running over a hill and going over a fence. Police said they found 20 pounds of copper fittings in the bag. Smith was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of theft and defiant trespass. He was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Assault, endangerment charge: Destiny Cox, 22, of 60 Brookhaven Ave., Washington, was arrested Saturday night by Washington police after she allegedly dragged her boyfriend, Brandon Wilkins of Washington, about 50 feet with her vehicle. Wilkins said the two had gotten into an argument, and she dropped him at his home on Pine Street. When he reached inside the vehicle to retrieve his drink, she allegedly hit the gas pedal and drove off, dragging him. She was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Cox was placed in Washington County jail on a $5,000 percentage bond. Wilkins was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.
Marijuana, possession charges: Javarr M. Thomas, 19, of 95 Sumner Ave., Washington, was charged by Washington police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident Saturday night in the 200 block of Lincoln Terrace. Police had been called to the area for a report of a disturbance. He was arraigned on the charges before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on a $5,000 percentage bond.
Wallet stolen: Edward A. Toth, 51, of Washington, told state police Sunday night his wallet was stolen by a man who helped him after he tripped and fell in front of 501 Jefferson Ave., Washington. He told police the man took the wallet and ran. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
Car vandalized: Several cars on Fayette Street and in the 700 block of Basset Avenue were vandalized early Sunday morning when someone marked them with orange spray paint, Washington police said.
House burglarized: A home in the 600 block of Ewing Street was burglarized between Thursday and Saturday when someone kicked in a rear door, Washington police said. It was not known if anything was stolen from the home.
