Authorities say a road was blocked overnight as part of the investigation into the ambush shooting that killed one state trooper and critically injured another outside a rural northeastern Pennsylvania barracks.

Trooper Tom Kelly said in a statement early Tuesday that parts of Route 402 were blocked in some areas to allow a search of the area without endangering the safety of motorists. He didn’t say what investigators were looking for, but said the road has been reopened and no one is in custody.

Cpl. Bryon K. Dickson II was killed and Trooper Alex Douglass trooper was critically wounded in the Friday night attack at the Blooming Grove barracks. Police say the motive is unknown, but they suspect the killer had a grudge against state police and has experience with firearms.
