The East Finley Township mother accused of leaving her two young children in a car parked outside an East Maiden Street business in Washington while she allegedly used heroin in the shop’s bathroom waived all charges to court Thursday morning and was released on unsecured bond.

Makayla N. Miller, 25, waived a preliminary hearing on two felony charges of child endangerment, a felony count of possession of contraband, three counts of drug possession, six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and possession with intent to deliver during an appearance before District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Redlinger released Miller, who was held in Washington County jail since her Sept. 4 arrest, on $10,000 unsecured bond.

Miller told Redlinger she is pregnant and plans to stay with her boyfriend in Washington before going to rehabilitation while awaiting trial on the charges.

Washington police said Miller could barely stand and was “disoriented and confused” as she walked from the bathroom of a business in the 300 block of East Maiden Street to her car, where she left her son and daughter for about 30 minutes.

Police said a search of Miller’s car turned up 24 stamp bags, four of which contained suspected heroin, along with nine syringes, caps and rubber bands. Jail guards said they found a “bundle” of heroin in her bra while she was being processed.

Miller’s two children are in the care of a relative.
