Salary board acts on personnel matters

WAYNESBURG – The Greene County Salary Board Thursday acknowledged the efforts of retired Waynesburg Borough Police Chief Timothy Hawfield, who served as a security consultant for the county. The board removed Hawfield from the county payroll because of the temporary nature of the assignment that concluded June 13.

County commissioners said the work Hawfield did in quickly securing county facilities, including the courthouse and the Fort Jackson Building, was greatly appreciated.

In business related to the courts, the salary board moved temporary court reporter Jessica Dulaney into a temporary full-time court reporter position at $14.04 per hour. It hired Jenna Freund as a regular full-time court reporter at a salary of $25,552.80 per year and accepted the retirement of Betty Sondericker, custody hearing officer.

The board rehired Lucas Cubic as a part-time corrections officer at the county jail at $14.02 per hour, waiving the 90-day probationary period due to his previous time worked. It hired Phillip Wyant as a regular part-time corrections officer at $14.02 per hour.

In matters pertaining to the sheriff’s office, the board promoted David Hromada to a regular full-time sheriff’s deputy at $13.92 per hour and Michael Natale as a casual sheriff’s deputy at $12 per hour. It hired Jason Bowser as a regular full-time security officer at $12.17 per hour and accepted the resignation of deputy John Friedmann.

In other business, the salary board:

• Approved a pay adjustment for Lucinda Sheaffer, children and youth services caseworker II, to $22.65 per hour, retroactive to Jan.;

• Accepted the resignation of casual van driver Joyce Farabee and temporarily increased the hours of casual transportation driver, Rebecca Clements, to permit her to exceed the 29-hour limit as needed;

• Accepted the retirement of Constance McNeely, department clerk II, in domestic relations;

• Approved a transfer for Randi Chambers from the office of Greene County Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson to the office of Greene County Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich, effective Sept. 15, with no increase in pay rate. It accepted the resignation of Cassandra Miller, a magisterial assistant in Dayich’s office.
