A free community dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday in the social room of the Rogersville United Methodist Church. The meal will be creamed chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, vegetable, applesauce, dessert and beverages. Donations are accepted and carryout is available. Everyone is welcome. The Pennsylvania Game Commission is sponsoring a hunter-trapper education safety course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Harveys-Aleppo Grange Hall. Pre-registration is required. However, one must complete chapters 1, 4, 5 and 9 of the online today’s hunter and trapper in PA course before attending the class. Details and registration information is available on the game commisson’s website at pgc.state.pa.us. This training is required for all first-time hunters and trappers.
A spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction will be held Sunday at the Rogersville Fire Hall. Dinner served from 1 to 4 p.m. followed by the auction drawings at 4 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Carryout is available. The Waynesburg University music program will host its first Chamber Works concert of the semester at noon Oct. 2 in the Marsh Center in Roberts Chapel. Admission is free and the public is invited. The lunchtime concert will include performances by the chamber strings orchestra, woodwind ensemble, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, beauty and barber shop ensembles and the university pipe and drum band. The concert allows the university student-ensembles to perform a great variety of styles of music. It also gives them the opportunity to perform in front of an audience of peers, teachers and friends. The audience is encouraged to bring a lunch and enjoy the hourlong event. Morris Township supervisors will hold a cleanup day for Morris Township, Greene County, residents only, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4. Items such a large appliances, sofas, mattresses and scrap metal may be dropped off at the township building. No garbage or tires will be accepted. For more information, call 724-627-9844.
The Warrior Trail Association will host a presentation by local blues guitarist and Independent Music Award winner Ernie Hawkins titled, “Reverend Gary Davis: Genius of Piedmont Guitar – An Homage,” at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Warrior Trail headquarters in Fordyce.
