Area teen arrested on assault charges
A 17-year-old Pittsburgh boy was charged as an adult for allegedly pointing a gun and pistol-whipping another teen in Washington’s West End on Wednesday morning.
Nasstylejah Wilkerson is accused of approaching the 16-year-old boy with a handgun near Brookside Avenue and Fayette Street. Washington police said the 16-year-old was walking to Washington High School on Jefferson Avenue.
He reportedly told the 16-year-old, “Oh, you want to snitch on me” before pointing a gun at him. Wilkerson then reportedly struck the other teen on top of the head before running down Brookside. The 16-year-old fell to the ground. He told police that he “saw stars” when he was hit.
The injured teen told police he feared for his life. He was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.
Wilkerson is familiar to city police. In August 2012, when he was 15, Wilkerson and two other teenagers were accused of robbing a pizza delivery driver. He was initially charged as an adult in the case, which was later transferred to juvenile court.
Wilkerson was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats and persons prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 8 before Redlinger.
