MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) – Moundsville Police Chief Tom Mitchell says thieves are targeting natural gas industry workers staying at a local campground.

Mitchell says his department received reports last week of multiple thefts and break-ins at the Varlas Trailer Park and Campground. There also was a theft from a vehicle parked at the Marshall County Fairgrounds.

Mitchell tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register that one worker from Utah lost his driver’s license when his wallet was stolen.

He says thieves know that drillers and pipeliners often work 12 hours a day or longer.

Police don’t have any suspects. Mitchell says the investigation is continuing.
