There will be a new traffic configuration on Route 50 between the Washington County line and Millers Run Road in South Fayette Township on Monday, weather permitting.

Beginning at 7 a.m., all traffic will be shifted into the eastbound lanes. A single, 11-foot lane will be maintained in each direction on the eastbound lanes as crews begin work on the westbound side. Temporary barriers will be installed between the lanes of traffic.

Left turns from eastbound Route 50 to Route 978 will be eliminated during construction and a detour will be posted.

Traffic will remain in this configuration until the westbound lanes are completed in mid-June. Traffic will be shifted onto the newly constructed westbound lanes and work will begin on the eastbound side.

Golden Triangle Construction of Imperial is prime contractor for the $19.04 million project that should be done in October.
