Waynesburg University will host an evening of one-act plays at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center.
The one-act plays bring student work to life as students perform their scripts written from a recent playwriting course. Original one-act plays are showcased and presented in a workshop format.
Under the supervision of Edward L. Powers, director of the theater program and professor of theater at Waynesburg University, this special night of theater allows audiences to experience another side of the theater program and to support the efforts of student actors, student directors and especially, student writers.
“One-act plays are valuable in that they provide students an opportunity to direct their peers,” Powers said. “For students acting in the performances, one-act plays afford them the opportunity to work with different directors. Projects such as these continue to build leadership and teamwork skills.”
Admission is free and the public is invited to attend, although reservations are strongly suggested. Seats may be reserved by calling 724-852-3226.
