A Washington woman has been charged with forgery after allegedly calling in fake prescriptions for pain medication.

Tamara Belcastro, 55, of 77 Campbell Ave., a former employee of Neighbor Health Center, 95 Leonard Ave., is accused of calling in fake prescriptions for Ultram, an opioid painkiller, under the name of Dr. Atif Saeed to Jeffreys Drug Store, Canonsburg.

City police were called to the health center Nov. 18 by a coworker, who allegedly told police Belcastro had been calling in fake prescriptions for about a year. According to the complaint, a pharmacy employee told police Belcastro would come in to pick up the medication and pay with cash.

A complaint was filed Monday with District Judge Robert Redlinger, and the charge will be sent by summons.
