South Strabane Township police and firefighters were called Monday to Billy Bell Park playground off Manse Street after two people reportedly overdosed on heroin.

When police arrived just after 6 p.m., fire Chief Scott Reese already had roused the 32-year-old Chartiers Township man and the 29-year-old McDonald woman. The two were at the park with the McDonald woman’s 8-year-old son and another woman. The second woman told police she did not take any of the drug.

The Chartiers man was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment, but the McDonald woman refused treatment.

Township police notified Washington County Children and Youth Services, as well as Pennsylvania Childline. A CYS caseworker told police she would check on the boy and his mother Monday night.
