Chimney fire does minor damage to Smith Township home

Firefighters from four departments responded Wednesday morning to a chimney fire on Pleasant Valley Road in Smith Township.

Slovan fire Chief Brandon Kriznik said the fire at the home of Edward Collins, 230 Pleasant Valley, was reported just after 7 a.m. He said there was not much damage and the family should be able to return to the residence.

No injuries were reported. Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Midway and Jefferson and Mt. Pleasant townships.
