WAYNESBURG -Greene County commissioners, at a brief agenda meeting Wednesday, agreed to place on the agenda for today’s meeting the approval of a right-of-way plan for the replacement of a county bridge over Bloody Run in Gilmore Township.
The county plans to replace the bridge on Shough Creek Road next year and had the right-of-way plan prepared by Widmer Engineering for property that will be needed for the new bridge.
The plan already was approved by the state Department of Transportation, said Jeff Marshall, county chief clerk. The county will need about a half of an acre of land for a temporary construction easement and 0.087 acre for a permanent right of way.
Once the plan is approved, the county will have the company that does its right-of-way work contact affected property owners to obtain the easements and rights of way.
The cost of replacing the bridge will be paid for by the state under a law that provides 100 percent funding for bridges in counties that meet certain requirements regarding economic hardship.
The commissioners also plan to approve today a grant application for the fiscal year 2014-15 capital equipment grant from PennDOT that will provide money to replace six vehicles for the county’s transportation program.
In addition, they expect to approve a grant application to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to provide funding for an adult probation officer who works with defendants in the county intermediate punishment program and for the cost of drug and alcohol treatment services.
