Registration will be held later this month for children in Carmichaels Area School District who will be attending school for the first time in either kindergarten or first grade.
Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old before Sept. 1. Children registering for first grade must be 6 years old before Sept. 1. Students presently in kindergarten need not register for first grade.
Parents having children eligible to register for school this year must make arrangements to do so on these registration dates.
The registration is important, said David Bates, elementary principal, because of entrance regulations.
A short screening will be given to each child. The school nurse, clerical staff and transportation personnel will be available to assist parents with the registration.
Parents are asked to bring their child with them to registration.
It is essential for parents also to bring with them their child’s record of immunization shots required by Pennsylvania law, birth certificate, proof of residence and a registration packet.
Parents can call or stop at the elementary center office for a registration packet. Parents who have other children attending school also can send a note with their child requesting a packet and the information will be sent home with the child.
