Community Foundation awards seven grants

Seven organizations were awarded summer grants Thursday night during the Community Foundation of Greene County’s open house at its new community meeting room.

The money was given to organizations that plan to use it to offer more resources and options to people in Greene County in various ways.

The Corner Cupboard Food Bank received $2,000 from the Harvest Fund and the Forever Greene Fund. The money will be going toward putting together kid’s bags for the upcoming school year.

CPR classes will now be made available through the New Freeport Volunteer Fire Department because of the $2,000 grant from the Good for Greene Fund.

The Monon Center Inc. was given a $744 grant for its RAC Supplement use through the Arts and Culture Fund.

Multiple grants were given to various groups through the Forever Greene Fund. They include a $2,000 grant to the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation for their Spirit of Freedom/Aviation Day; a $1,134 grant to the Greene County Historical Society for their college internship program; Save-a-Horse Stables Inc. received a $2,000 grant for the Meadows Hammer Mill No. 5 project; and a mobile computer lab project through Southwest Training Services Inc. received $500.
