The Warrior Trail Association of Greene County will be meeting at its Fordyce headquarters Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Candice Buchanan and Glenn Toothman will be presenting pictures from their collection of early Greene County images and telling visitors how they put together their book “Waynesburg (Images of America)” that travels back to the early days of the area’s growing years. The book documents the evolution of High Street from the time of dirt roads to brick pavers and revisits the Downey House and its tragic fire, the men of Company K, the Waynesburg Brewery, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument as it was built, the Hookstown Cemetery, the Courthouse Square, the Waynesburg College campus and many other icons of local history. The presenters will have copies of their book available for purchase and signing. The presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, call Llew Williams at 304-534-2213.

The Aleppo Brethren Church will hold a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. The menu will include creamed chicken over biscuits, mashed potatoes, green beans and fruit cup. For information or deliveries call 724-428-9812.
