MCKEES ROCKS (AP) – Police say a 15-year-old boy will face assault and weapons charges after he allegedly fired shots in the direction of two officers making a traffic stop near Pittsburgh.
The Stowe Township officers had stopped a motorist near the Pittsburgh-McKees Rocks border about 8:15 p.m. Monday when the shots rang out.
Nobody was hurt, but police were able to identify the teen who fired the shots. They say he was not involved in the traffic stop.
Police indicated the boy was in custody and was facing charges of aggravated assault, assaulting a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and illegally possessing a firearm.
Authorities say the boy will be charged as an adult.
The Associated Press was not identifying the teen because online court records show the charges have yet to be filed Tuesday.
