A North Strabane Township man was arrested Thursday night after he allegedly struck a Canonsburg woman several times with a golf club during a confrontation at his home.

Timothy R. Johnson, 51, of 226 Latimer Ave., Strabane, is accused of hitting Marcia Masi, 53, three times on the top and back of her head with a driver. Police said she also appeared to have been hit in the back. Police found the lower portion of the club on a chair and said the fiberglass shaft was broken. Masi told police the two were quarreling. Police said Johnson was intoxicated.

Masi initially refused treatment, but later went to Canonsburg Hospital. Johnson also was taken to the hospital for treatment of what police termed minor scratches and lacerations before he was taken to Washington County jail for arraignment.

He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 25 before District Judge Jay Weller.
