Two North Strabane Township teens wrestled a Virginia man to the ground early Thursday after the pair saw him allegedly prowling around their residences and breaking into vehicles.

Cameron Fontenot, 16, and Cameron Cashdollar, 15, tackled 37-year-old Anthony Scott Adams, of Richlands, Va., and held him in a headlock until North Strabane police arrived to arrest him.

“We were just sitting there watching TV around 2 a.m. when we saw a light shine in our back door and we saw this guy dressed in all black,” Cashdollar said. “We watched and waited to see what he was doing, so we went outside and followed him,” Fontenot said.

“We saw him run away (on Meadowbrook Drive) after breaking into at least three cars and my friend screamed, ‘What are you doing?’ and he said he was just leaving, needed some change and that he would give us the change,” Cashdollar said.

“And we were like, ‘Nope. You’re going to jail, pal,” Fontenot said before the suspect allegedly pushed them and they tackled him to the ground and took a pre-jail mugshot with a phone camera in case Adams got away.

Police said Adams broke into five different vehicles and stole at least $50 in cash. Police Chief Brian Hughes was not available for comment Friday.

Adams remained in Washington County jail Friday on $25,000 bond facing charges of loitering and prowling, theft from a motor vehicle and theft from movable property.
