Coroner: Man found near river rafting area drowned

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A coroner says a man found dead near a whitewater rafting area of a southwestern Pennsylvania state park died of asphyxiation due to drowning.
The Fayette County coroner’s office said no foul play is suspected in the death of 62-year-old Darryl Lohr, but a ruling on the manner of death will be made after toxicology tests.
Coroner Phillip Reilly said he believes the Mount Pleasant man was on an old railroad trail bridge before he ended up in the water at Ohiopyle State Park. His body was found Tuesday afternoon in the Youghiogheny River about 65 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Reilly said Lohr would likely have been unconscious after falling into the river. His body was carried about four miles downstream.
