CHAMPION, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say two people were killed in a collision between a car and a sport utility vehicle in western Pennsylvania.

The Westmoreland County coroner’s office said the crash happened in Donegal Township at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the car was heading north on Route 711 when it failed to negotiate a left curve, crossed the center line and was hit on the passenger side by the southbound SUV.

Police said 25-year-old Trevor Osselburn of Somerset and 24-year-old Patrick Polakoski of Somerset were thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner’s office said speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, and neither victim was wearing a seat belt.
