The Greene County Department of Recreation will offer a free three-day introductory sporting clay shooting class for women.

The “Women’s Intro to Sporting Clays” will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, Wednesday, Sept. 2, and Friday, Sept. 4, at Hunting Hills in Dilliner.

Classes are free for women 15 and older who have not previously taken the classes, which first started in 2011. The deadline for pre-registration is Thursday, Aug. 27, and class space is limited. Each student must submit a signed waiver.

Chuck Mallory and Randy Coss, both of whom are certified National Sporting Clays Association instructors, will lead the classes, which will cover the fundamentals of clay target shooting. Students are expected to become familiar with different types of guns, techniques of stance and how to mount a gun. Students will also view a variety of trap positions and clay speeds and sizes, and try shooting targets.

Students should bring their own 12- or 20-gauge shotgun, over-and-under or semi-automatic, as well as eye and ear protection. Loaner guns, shells, and eye and ear protection will also be provided on site.

For more information, or to pre-register, call the Department of Recreation at 724-852-5323.
