Two face charges: George Gardner and Dawn Viscardi each face charges of simple assault and harassment for an alleged confrontation at their home at 514 1/2 Chartiers Ave., Sunday, Canonsburg police said. Gardner also will be charged with cruelty to animals for allegedly putting his child’s guinea pig in the microwave oven and turning it on. The guinea pig survived, police said. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Gold stolen: Jonathan Bova, Thornwood Drive, told Canonsburg police Monday he ordered a 10-gram bar of gold on eBay. When the package was delivered by the post office, the box was empty.
Theft reported: Damian Johnson reported to state police a red generator was stolen from the bed of his truck from the parking lot of Red Roof Inn, 1399 W. Chestnut, Canton Township, between 10 p.m. Aug. 9 and 6 a.m. Aug. 10.
Drug paraphernalia: Raquel Bryner, 23, of Canton, will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after state police were called by her mother to their home at 256 Lacock St. Saturday after the mother found suspected paraphernalia in Bryner’s room. She was placed in Washington County jail on a parole violation.
Theft, forgery charges: James G. Megyesy, 19, who is incarcerated in Washington County jail, was arraigned via video before District Judge David Mark on charges of identity theft, forgery, theft, access device fraud and criminal use of a computer. He is accused of opening a bank account at one bank and then transferring money from a Canton man’s account into it last year. Mark set bond on the new charges at $25,000.
Theft, conspiracy charges: Lisa Abbott, 48, of 308 11th St., Donora, and Shelly L. Lawson, 42, of 85 Highland Ave., Donora, were arrested by Donora police Monday for allegedly convincing a mentally challenged man to withdraw $2,300 from his bank account. Both were arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond. Abbott is charged with conspiracy and Lawson is charged with conspiracy and theft by deception.
Television stolen: John Chabala, 595 Scenic Drive, Independence, told state police Monday a burglar broke into his basement and stole a 55-inch television and Xbox system. A silver pickup truck was seen in the area.
Theft from vehicle: Police are investigating the theft of four credit cards from an unsecured vehicle at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray. According to reports, the cards were taken Aug. 15 and more than $7,000 was charged.
Drinking arrest: Christopher Waseman, 19, of Glenn Oak Drive, Bethel Park, was charged with underage drinking after he rang the door bell of a home on Platinum Place in McMurray Monday, walked around the back of the house and sat down. Police said the owner of the home said Waseman was very polite, but visibly intoxicated.
Car overturns: Bernard Hoffman, 47, of Wilson Drive, Bethel Park, escaped injury when his car fishtailed Monday on Turkeyfoot Road in Venetia, hit a hillside and overturned.
Probation violation: Jacob Anderson, 30, of 980 Fayette St., Washington, was picked up by South Strabane police on a probation violation after he was found reportedly trespassing at Northgate Apartments, 1430 Donnan Ave. He also will be charged with trespassing.
Items stolen: Items valued at $200 were reported stolen Monday from state Department of Transportation vehicles parked at the park-and-ride lot, East Beau Street, South Strabane police said.
Laptop stolen: Jane Selway told South Strabane police Saturday her laptop computer and power cord were stolen from her residence at the Executive House, East Beau Street.
Wallet stolen: Joan Martin of Cokeburg told Washington police Monday her wallet containing $200, credit cards and driver’s license was stolen from her purse while she was at Shop ‘n Save, 125 W. Beau St. A black man wearing a white T-shirt and white ball cap was seen on surveillance stealing the wallet. She was notified one of her cards was used in three transactions totaling $600 at Walmart, Trinity Point.
Truck damaged: The windshield and hood of a 1998 GMC Sonoma pickup truck owned by the city of Washington was damaged by vandals Monday while parked at the city garage, 900 E. Wheeling St., city police said.
