DELAWARE WATER GAP (AP) – A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Atlantic City rescued an injured man from the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania.

The 19-year-old sustained multiple serious fractures and lacerations after falling from a tree in Delaware Water Gap.

The helicopter crew hoisted a paramedic who was treating the man and then lifted the victim early Tuesday. The crew performed the hoist at an altitude of 110 feet due to the terrain.

The chopper flew the man to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. But the chopper had to land in the parking lot because the helipad was occupied.

There’s no word on the man’s condition. His name was not released.
